
During resistance training, microscopic damage (micro-tears) occurs within the muscle fiber. The body will repair this micro-tears by creating more myofibrils within that muscle fiber, provided you give enough nutrients through a right nutrition plan (especially protein)
The increased number of myofibrils causes muscle fibers to enlarge, increasing their volume and size. This is how the quality and quantity of the muscle improves through resistance training
