You don’t get calories or energy from it, but they are important for the normal functioning of the body.

Micronutrients are the vitamins and minerals that are important for so many different type of functions in our body.

Fat Soluble Vitamins

  1. Vitamin A
  2. Vitamin D
  3. Vitamin E
  4. Vitamin K

Water Soluble Vitamins

  1. Vitamin B
  2. Vitamin C

When it comes to minerals, there are broadly two types of minerals – Macro & Micro Minerals –

  1. Macro Minerals – are seen in larger amounts in our body and hence need to be given in larger quantities through the diet. Eg – Calcium, Potassium, Sodium, Phosphorous, Sulphur, Magnesium etc
  2. Micro Minerals – on the other hand, are required only in slight quantities. Eg – chromium, iron, cobalt, fluorine, iodine, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, zinc etc. Micro Minerals are also known as trace minerals
